Samir selected in ATF HPE Camp

LAHORE – Pakistan's top ranking junior on international circuit Samir Iftikhar has been chosen by the Asian Tennis Federation for the High Performance Evaluation Camp which commences from November 28 in Bangkok Thailand.

The Asian Tennis Federation has invited nine top Under-20 players from Asia on basis of their performance and results on the ITF Junior World Ranking and ATP circuit.

The ATF has honoured the youngster by acknowledging his extraordinary talent at ITF Junior World Ranking tournaments where he showed good results by winning back to back four ITF junior world ranking titles and also considered his domestic performance where he in November he won to win national men’s and junior titles. Young Samir beat top Pakistan top players Aqil Khan, Jalil Khan and Yasir Khan.

The ITF camp is for the players who have potential to go to top levels professionally. His first cousin Aisam. Aisam was other player from Pakistan to be chosen for such Programme in year 1998. The ATF will pick up four players by the deputed international coaches from USA who would go for further grooming in the ITF ATP Circuit camp. Samir has thanked the Pakistan Tennis Federation and President PTF Dilawar Abbass who made personal recommendation to Asian Tennis Federation for talented youngster who.

Mr Dilawar Abbass recommended Samir’s name to the Ministry of Sports for Australian Open in January 2010 which helped me gain international exposure.

He also thanked his employers WAPDA and coaches Rashid Malik, Zulfiqar Rahim and Mehbob Khan who all played major role in his development of his game.
